Is drinking a cup of Apple cinnamon tea all we need to stay healthy? Let’s find out if we can stop searching for the fountain of youth!
Cinnamon is good for so many health problems that’s a miracle someone hasn’t touted it as a superfood, making us mix it with avocado to give eternal life. It may be something to do with the fact that cinnamon can be slightly toxic due to the compound named coumarin that actually gives its flavor.
Luckily, the so called true or Ceylon variety has much lower of this stuff so we can still be superhumans, but the catch is that supermarkets tend to sell the cheaper variety cassia with the higher amount of coumarin.
Taking high amount of coumarin can cause as many problems as its health benefits cassia cinnamon can provide, equaling us out to normal humans or sometimes even less to that.
Before spooning up on cinnamon, make sure it’s the Ceylon variety and even then, don’t overdo it, the spirits of our ancestors maybe won’t but our liver will be grateful for us.
Ingredients
- 3 Apple peel
- 8 cups / 2L Water
- 1 Cinnamon stick
- 3 slices Ginger (optional)
How to make Apple cinnamon tea
- Apple cinnamon tea is a great opportunity to use up apple peels that are left from other recipes. If we are only making the tea and we aren’t fancy baking a pie just dice up one whole apple. Fill a saucepan with water then add the apple peel and cinnamon. Optionally add a couple of slices of ginger too.
- Put the lid on then bring it to boil.
- Let it sit for 10 minutes.
- Serve or fill it into a jar and keep in the fridge until it’s served. It keeps fairly long thanks to cinnamon.
Enjoy!
