2½cupsRolled oat
1tablespoonVanilla extract
1tablespoonHoney or sweetener of choice
Filling:
7ozBaking chocolate
¾cupNuts (finely chopped)
Instructions
Crust
On low heat to melt butter then pour rolled oat, vanilla extract and honey in. Fry it for about 5 minutes or until the oat gets a golden brownish color.
Separate egg whites from yolks and put them into a mixing bowl to beat them until hard peaks form.
Mix egg white and roasted rolled oats then put and press half of it into a tray as evenly as possible.
Filling
Melt chocolate.
Pour half of the filling on top of the oat layer.
Sprinkle nuts evenly on chocolate filling.
Pour other half of the chocolate filling on top.
Wait until chocolate cools down a bit and evenly pour the other half of the egg white mixes rolled oats on top. Spread it to cover the whole chocolate filling and press gently the oat cover down to stick in the half solid chocolate filling.
Put tray in a 350°F / 180°C preheated oven for 15 minutes or until granola bars turn golden brown. Mind the bars at the sides as those tend to brown more quickly.
